Student Learning and Downloads
This guide walks you through the student experience after they purchase a course. Understanding these steps will help you answer student questions and know exactly what they see. Students operate entirely on your website, see your branding, and do not need to create a Kanorio account.
How Students Access Content
- "Log in to access" on the post-purchase page: This button appears on the order status page immediately after payment.
- Order confirmation email: The email lists "Your purchase" with direct links to each item, taking the student straight to the course or download pack after login.
- "Log in" in the website header: If your site has products linked to courses or download packs, a login icon appears in the header by default.
- Direct URL: Your website's
/accountpage.
Students who are manually granted access will not receive an email. Please instruct them to go to /account and log in with their email address.
Logging In
Students enter their email and receive a verification email branded with your site. They enter the 6-digit code or click "Log in directly" on their computer. There are no passwords to remember. If a student opens your site in an in-app browser (like Instagram or Facebook), they can simply switch to their email app to get the code and return to enter it without losing their session. See Customer Login and Customer Center for details.
My Content
After logging in, students go to "Customer Center › My Content" (/account/content). This page lists all their courses and download packs, showing the cover image and description you set, along with their progress. Expired content is marked as "Expired."
The Course Page
When a student opens a course:
- Left sidebar (Outline): Shows chapters and lessons, and the completion status of each. Lessons blocked by sequence or prerequisites show "Complete 'Lesson Name' first." Elective lessons are marked "Elective," and lessons not yet available show their release date.
- Right side (Lesson view): Contains the video/audio player, PDF reader, text content, embedded videos, quizzes, or file downloads. See Videos, Audio, PDFs, and File Downloads for playback speed, Picture-in-Picture, and quality settings.
- Video streaming: The player automatically adjusts quality based on the student's internet speed, ensuring smooth playback even on mobile data. Scrubbing the progress bar allows for instant jumping, with visual previews on the bar.
- Resume playback: The system remembers where the student left off in each lesson. They can switch devices and continue from the same spot. The "Continue learning" button jumps directly to the last interrupted lesson.
- Completing lessons: Video/audio lessons are marked complete automatically once the threshold you set (default 90%) is reached. Text, PDF, file, and embedded video lessons require clicking "Mark as complete." Quizzes must be passed to be marked complete.
- Quizzes: Students answer on the page and see their score immediately after submission. Retakes are available if configured.
- Autoplay next lesson: Students can toggle this on or off; the setting is saved in their browser.
- Handouts and attachments: Downloadable directly on the lesson page.
- Certificates: If enabled, students can click "Download certificate" in the sidebar after completing the course. The download link is valid for 10 minutes; if it expires, they can click it again. The name on the certificate is pulled from the student's "Profile," which they can edit in the Customer Center.
Download Pack View
Download packs do not have an outline or progress tracking. Students see a file list with a download button next to each file. They can also click a file to preview it online.
When Content Expires or is Revoked
- Expired: "My Content" shows "Expired," and the content cannot be opened.
- Revoked: The content is removed from "My Content," and access is denied upon the next attempt. Videos currently playing will stop once the playback link expires.

Troubleshooting: "I can't see my course"
- Check the email address: Ask the student to confirm the email used to log in to
/accountmatches the one used at checkout. If it's wrong, see the FAQ below. - Check payment status: Search for the student's email in "Orders". If the status is "Pending" (e.g., bank transfer not yet cleared) or "Abandoned checkout," access will not be granted.
- Check product-course linking: Open the product's "Courses" tab to ensure the course is selected and the "Access plan" includes the plan the student purchased. Then, open the course to ensure lessons are set to "Visible to students."
- Check access validity: In "Customers › Contacts", click the student and check the "Access" tab to ensure the status is "Active" and has not been revoked or expired.
For students manually granted access, start troubleshooting from step 4.
