Product Reviews

About 6 minBeginner

View all product reviews for your website in the Reviews tab located at "Store › Products". Each review is a unique entry linked to its specific product; this same section will also be used to manage appointment services in the future.

Who can leave a review

  • Paid customers can leave a review for a product within their order details in the Customer Center. For digital products, customers must also have access rights.
  • Only one review is allowed per order item. If a customer edits their review later, it will return to a pending status.
  • If you disable the review feature for a specific product, customers will no longer be able to submit new reviews, but existing public reviews will remain visible.

Moderation

  • Pending reviews are displayed first. Once you click Approve, the review will appear on the product page and be factored into the star rating. Clicking Reject will keep it private.
  • Use the rejection feature for inappropriate content (e.g., personal attacks, spam, or irrelevant content). Do not reject reviews simply because of a low rating: both the US FTC and the UK CMA consider "only showing positive reviews" to be misleading to consumers.
  • Reviews written by customers cannot be deleted, only rejected.

Replying to reviews

Select Reply from the "⋯" menu in the list to post a public response as the store owner. The reply will appear below the review and be visible to all visitors. Use this to express gratitude, provide explanations, or add context; avoid arguing in public. To retract a reply, select "Edit reply › Remove reply".

Importing reviews from other platforms

Click Add imported review and fill in the product, reviewer name, star rating, content, and original date. Imported reviews are published immediately and marked as "Imported"; they will not be marked as "Verified Purchase" and can be deleted at any time.

Additionally, you can enter Custom historical rating and Custom historical review count in the Settings tab of a product. The system will calculate a weighted average with approved reviews, and the product page will note that the overall rating includes reviews from other platforms.

When star ratings are displayed

The Public rating display setting in the product Settings tab determines the threshold: you can choose to always show, never show, or show only after reaching 3, 10, or 30 reviews (default is 10). If the threshold is not met, the star rating will not appear on the product page, but reviews will still be saved and calculated.

Using APIs and embedded components

If you are building your own frontend, you can bypass the hosted product pages:

  • Read (no login required): GET https://{your-website}/api/v1/reviews?target=product:<product id> to fetch approved reviews; GET /api/v1/reviews/summary?target=product:<product id> to fetch star ratings and counts (with the above thresholds applied).
  • Customer submission (after customer login): POST /api/v1/customer/reviews, PATCH /api/v1/customer/reviews.
  • Backend operations (API key or AI assistant): reviews.list, reviews.approve, reviews.reject, reviews.reply, reviews.import, reviews.settings.update.
  • Embedded components: <kanorio-reviews target="product:<product id>"> to display the review list, <kanorio-rating target="product:<product id>"> to display the star rating.
  • Webhook: reviews.submitted (new review pending), reviews.published (review published), reviews.replied (you replied).
