For every lesson, you can decide who can view it, when it becomes available, and whether it can be downloaded. These settings are located in the "Display & Access" section of the lesson settings. To apply these settings to an entire chapter, use the bulk actions in the chapter menu.
Once you enable "Free Preview," visitors who haven't purchased the course can play the lesson directly from the curriculum module on your sales page without logging in. Other lessons will show a lock icon. This is perfect for the first lesson, a course introduction, or a highlight reel to help visitors decide whether to purchase.
To learn how to add the curriculum module to your sales page, see .
There are three options for "Access Date":
| Option | When visible | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Immediately | Available right after enrollment | Most modules |
| Fixed date | After a specific date and time, based on site time zone | Cohort-based courses, upcoming chapters |
| Based on enrollment date | A set number of days after enrollment | Drip-feed courses, allowing students to progress at their own pace |
For example, if you set it to 7 days after enrollment: if a student purchases the course or is granted access on October 1st, they will be able to view the lesson on October 8th. Before the access date, students will see the date but will not be able to click into the lesson.
To set this for an entire chapter at once, use "Set chapter access date" in the chapter menu. This will apply to all existing lessons in that chapter; any lessons added later will need to be configured individually.
If you want the "Basic" plan to see the first eight chapters and the "Pro" plan to see two additional chapters, split the content into two courses: the "Main Course" containing the first eight chapters, and the "Advanced Module" containing the extra two. Grant access to the Main Course for both plans, and grant access to the Advanced Module only for the "Pro" plan. See for details.
By splitting them into two courses, each has its own progress tracking and completion certificates. Basic students will be marked as complete after finishing the Main Course and won't be stuck at 80% progress. Within a single course, lessons are accessible to all students who have access to that course.
"Allow file downloads" is disabled by default (downloadable packages are enabled by default):
Once downloads are enabled, files are more easily shared. For more information on protecting your course content, see . Use "Allow all downloads" in the chapter menu to enable this for an entire chapter.
Preview videos are played via short-lived links and do not have a fixed URL, so search engines will not index the videos themselves. However, the curriculum text (chapter and lesson titles) on your sales page is public and will be indexed.
Not currently. Previews are set at the lesson level. You can create a separate highlight clip to use as a preview lesson.
Yes, access dates are calculated in real-time. If you push a fixed date back, students who already had access will temporarily lose it. If you change it to "Immediately," all students will gain access right away.
Following the split-course method mentioned above, once the student purchases the "Pro" plan or the "Advanced Module" separately, they will gain access to the advanced content. Their original progress in the Main Course will remain unaffected. When a student has multiple access rights to the same course, the system defaults to the most permissive one.
