What is WordPress?

“WordPress” is often treated as one product. There are at least two paths:

WordPress.org (self-hosted) is open-source software: you rent hosting, install, and update core and plugins yourself. Freedom is highest, and so is the maintenance you own.
WordPress.com (hosted) is Automattic’s managed platform: hosting, backups, and basic security are handled for you, while the interface still sits on the WordPress ecosystem. On either path, the core strengths are clear: tens of thousands of plugins and a huge theme library, a mature block editor, a large global and Chinese-language teaching community, and (especially self-hosted, or Business and above) nearly unlimited room to extend. In recent years WordPress.com has also added AI site building and an AI assistant to draft layouts and copy faster.

If you need deep customization, full ecommerce (WooCommerce, for example), or you already have engineers or an agency maintaining the site, the WordPress ecosystem is still more mature than Kanorio. A website in about 15 minutes, without first learning themes and blocks

A lot of people stall on “I don’t know how the first version should be laid out,” or on theme settings, the block editor, and plugin options. Kanorio’s flow is: fill in brand details → AI generates a first-draft website → you adjust copy, images, and modules → publish. Most people can get a usable first version in about 15 minutes.

WordPress.com has also added AI site building and an AI assistant, so layouts and copy can appear faster. If you are willing to learn blocks, themes, and plugin combinations, that path buys a lot of flexibility. When people pick a website builder, what often stalls them is not “does this feature exist,” but “which plan is it on.” From WordPress.com’s public plans, fuller plugin installs, advanced SEO plugins, and some advanced analytics often sit on higher tiers. Self-hosted usually means picking, installing, and configuring SEO plugins and analytics yourself.

Make it easier for search engines and AI to understand your brand

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is simple in practice: make it easier for Google and other search engines to understand and find your website. Kanorio handles a lot of the basics: search titles and descriptions (Meta), a Sitemap, and a site structure that is easier to index. These basics are available on the Free plan. The WordPress ecosystem is very mature on SEO: self-hosted or higher plans can pair Yoast, Rank Math, and similar professional plugins for fine keyword and structured-data work. If you have an SEO consultant, or you want to go deep on plugins yourself, that depth still leads today. Kanorio builds in the basic SEO most people actually use, so the starting bar is lower.

Kanorio also offers AI-friendly capabilities and AI Visibility Management, so you can think about being understood and cited by AI tools, not only classic search.

Where WordPress is more mature

Honestly: if your core need is “unlimited extension and deep customization,” WordPress is still clearly ahead. From public information and the state of the ecosystem:

Plugins and themes. Tens of thousands of plugins and a huge theme library cover membership, courses, forums, advanced forms, multilingual sites, marketing automation, and more. As a younger service, Kanorio cannot match that extension library in the short term.

Ecommerce depth (especially WooCommerce). If you need a complex catalog, inventory, many shipping rules, a large payments-plugin set, and deep store operations, WordPress + WooCommerce (or WordPress.com Commerce and similar) is usually more complete. Kanorio’s Online Store is aimed at digital products and service packages (Pro; see Pricing). The jobs are different.

Full custom work and developer workflows. Self-hosted WordPress.org, or SFTP / plugin upload on WordPress.com Business and above, fits teams with engineers, agencies, or a need for deep custom code. Kanorio is modular on purpose and does not offer the same “change any code you want” freedom.

Community and teaching. The Chinese-speaking world has a large body of WordPress tutorials, plugin reviews, and agency services, so help is relatively easy to find. Kanorio is still building that kind of ecosystem.

Public reliability commitments. WordPress.com publicly stresses high availability and enterprise-grade protection. Kanorio runs on professional cloud and CDN infrastructure and keeps strengthening reliability and security, but as a younger service it does not yet publish an Uptime SLA at the level of large hosted platforms - we are not going to dodge that.

If ecommerce, membership, or highly custom flows already run smoothly on WordPress, you usually do not need to move just to switch tools. Kanorio is a better fit when you want a brand website quickly, a short learning curve, and simpler pricing to grow content and presence over time.
