Getting Started with Your Online Store

About 6 min

Want to sell ebooks, audio files, videos on your website, or allow supporters to contribute freely? Kanorio's online store lets you create digital products within your existing website, set up payment methods, and list products on your pages for visitors to purchase.

You don't need to write code or set up a separate shopping cart. However, Kanorio is currently designed as a lightweight store for digital content and donations, and does not offer physical product logistics, shipping calculations, shopping cart, or inventory management.

Prepare These Details Before Opening Your Store

Before you begin, we recommend preparing:

  • Product Content: The PDFs, audio files, videos, or other digital files you'll be selling or providing to supporters.
  • Product Information: Product name, a brief description, cover image, price, and refund policy.
  • Payment Information: Depending on your chosen payment gateway, prepare your personal or business details and bank account for receiving payments.
  • Public Website Page: Products must be placed within the product sales module on a page for visitors to see and purchase.

Five Steps to Get Started from Scratch

1. Choose a Payment Method

A payment gateway is a service that allows buyers to pay online and then transfers the funds to you. Kanorio recommends starting with Stripe Connect – it's available in many countries worldwide and supports international credit cards. If you are in Taiwan and your buyers frequently use local payment methods like ATM transfers or convenience store codes, you can also choose PAYUNi.

2. Complete Your Payout Account Setup

Go to your dashboard's "Store → Payout Account" and follow the on-screen instructions to apply for or verify your chosen payment gateway. While your payout account is not yet active, you can still create products and edit pages, but visitors won't be able to complete paid checkouts.

3. Create Your First Product

Go to "Store → Products", fill in the product name, description, and cover image, and then create at least one fixed-price plan. If you want to accept donations, you can also enable an option for buyers to enter their own amount.

4. Add Products to Your Website Pages

Once your product is saved, use the product sales module to add it to your homepage, services page, or a dedicated sales page. This module will display the plan, price, and a purchase button.

5. Publish and Complete a Test Purchase

After publishing your website, review your product name, price, refund policy, and customer support information from a visitor's perspective to ensure clarity. For paid products, use the test process to confirm that the checkout page opens correctly. Free plans with a fixed price of 0 do not require payment gateway setup.
