Promotions: Drive More Sales with Discounts
Promotions allow you to attract buyers with discounts to encourage faster ordering. You can set up automatic discounts or issue discount codes to specific individuals. Public product cards will display the discounted price and a label, with the discount applied automatically at checkout.
Promotion features are available for all plans, including the free plan. Only one best discount will be applied per order; multiple promotions will not stack.
Five Types of Promotions
When creating a promotion, first choose the type that best suits your goals:
| Type | How it Works | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Product Discount | Automatically applied when conditions are met | Long-term price reductions, specific product sales |
| Discount Code | Buyer enters code at checkout | Social media promotion, email marketing, exclusive partner codes |
| Volume Discount | Automatically applied when a quantity threshold is met for the same product | Encourage bulk purchases, increase average order value |
| Limited-Time Sale | Automatically applied during a specific period (can include daily time slots) | Weekend flash sales, seasonal promotions, countdown sales |
| Minimum Order Discount | Automatically applied when the order total reaches a threshold | Increase average order value, offer tiered discounts for larger orders |
Discounts can be set as a percentage, a fixed amount off, or a special price. Available options depend on the type selected and form settings.
Create Your First Promotion
1. Access Promotions Management
Navigate to "Store → Promotions" in your dashboard and click "Add Promotion".
2. Choose a Promotion Type
Select from Product Discount, Discount Code, Volume Discount, Limited-Time Sale, or Minimum Order Discount in the type gallery. Each type pre-fills common conditions, but you can adjust discounts and scope.
3. Fill in Basic Information and Discount Details
- Promotion Name: e.g., "Spring Sale" or "Social Exclusive Code" for easy backend identification.
- Discount Settings: Choose percentage, fixed amount, or special price, and enter the corresponding value.
- Discount Code (for Discount Code type only): Set the code buyers will enter, e.g.,
SPRING20.
4. Set Scope and Conditions
You can apply promotions to all products or specify particular products/categories. Add conditions based on the type, such as:
- Minimum purchase quantity for Volume Discounts.
- Minimum order amount for Minimum Order Discounts.
- Start/end times for Limited-Time Sales, with optional daily time slots.
Sale periods are calculated based on your website's set timezone.
5. Add Limits and Audience Targeting (Optional)
Advanced settings may include:
- Total Usage Limit: The maximum number of orders that can redeem the promotion.
- Per-Customer Limit: The maximum number of times a single buyer can use the promotion.
- Applicable Audience: All customers, first-time buyers only, or returning customers.
6. Save and Activate
Save your settings. If "Activate" is checked, automatic promotions meeting the conditions will apply. Discount codes become active when buyers enter the correct code at checkout.
How Promotions Appear on Your Public Site
Automatic promotions (Product Discount, Volume Discount, Limited-Time Sale, Minimum Order Discount) can display on public product cards:
- A promotion badge.
- The discounted price alongside the original price.
- A countdown timer may appear within approximately 72 hours before a Limited-Time Sale ends.
Discount codes will not appear on product card labels to prevent codes from being exposed on public pages. Share codes with target buyers via social media, email, marketing widgets, or private messages.
Checkout for custom amounts (pay-what-you-want) does not apply promotions. Free plans with a fixed price of 0 will also not display promotion badges.
How Buyers Use Discount Codes
- Buyers select a fixed-price plan on your site and proceed to checkout.
- If the store has a discount code feature, a discount code input field will appear on the checkout page.
- After the buyer enters the code, the system will preview the discounted amount.
- Payment will be processed at the discounted price; platform transaction fees will also be calculated based on the discounted amount.
If the discounted amount is 0, the order will be completed using a free payment method, without requiring third-party payment.
Manage Promotion Status
In "Store → Promotions", you can view the status and performance of each promotion and perform the following actions:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Activate/Pause | Control whether the promotion can be applied |
| Archive/Unarchive | Move inactive promotions out of the daily list; unarchive to re-enable |
| Delete | Permanently delete a promotion; past order records are unaffected |
Promotions with redemption history can still be edited, but changes will not retroactively alter past order amounts or snapshots.
Usage Limits and Notes
- Only one best discount is applied per order; multiple promotions will not stack.
- Entering an invalid discount code will not silently switch to another automatic promotion; buyers should confirm the code is correct and still within the sale period.
- First-time buyer/returning customer segmentation and "Per-Customer Limit" require buyer email addresses for determination. These conditions may not apply temporarily until visitors provide their email.
- A full refund will reclaim the promotion usage count; partial refunds will not.
- For promotion scope, only select products or categories that belong to your current website.
Creative Marketing Ideas
Promotions aren't just about price changes; they help you design your sales rhythm:
- Exclusive Social Media Discount Codes: Announce codes on Instagram, LINE, or in newsletters to track which channel drives the most redemptions.
- Create Urgency with Limited-Time Sales: Set sales for weekends or specific daily slots, combined with countdown timers on product cards, to encourage immediate purchases.
- Encourage Bulk Buys with Volume Discounts: e.g., "Buy 2, Get a Discount," suitable for course bundles or series resources.
- Increase Average Order Value with Minimum Order Discounts: Set a "discount after reaching a certain amount" to guide buyers towards higher-priced plans.
- Amplify Exposure with Marketing Widgets: Use banners or pop-ups to announce limited-time events, and place discount codes or sales page links in CTAs. See Marketing Widgets for details.
It's recommended to focus on one clear promotion goal at a time to avoid diluting the message.
