Customer Management

Once someone places an order, fills out a form, or subscribes on your website, the next step is to keep track of them and notify them at the right time. This section helps you organize your customer list, collect form data, and set up automated emails for your customers.

You don't need to be a technical expert to send emails. Each article explains terms in plain language and guides you through the process step-by-step.

What can you achieve with this section?

• View all your customers in one list: including those who have purchased, filled out a form, or were added manually.
• Add online forms to your website to collect inquiries, bookings, or registrations, with respondents automatically becoming contacts.
• Decide which emails are sent automatically when a buyer pays, ships, or requests a refund, and whether to notify your team.
• Write and send emails to your subscribers, such as new product launches or seasonal promotions.
• Check if every email was delivered; if a customer says they didn't receive an email, you'll know why.
• Use your own custom domain to send emails and unify your branding, colors, and footer information.

Contacts are individuals on your website list, identified by email or phone. Campaign Emails are emails you write and send to a selected group of subscribers. Automated Notifications are system-generated emails like order confirmations, shipping updates, and form receipts that are sent regardless of subscription status. Features in the "Customers" section

The "Customers" menu on the left sidebar is divided into six tabs:

Store buyer lists are also available under "Store → Customers," which is another view of your contacts. See Customer Lists and Subscriptions for details.

Features by plan

• Free: Contacts, segmentation, online forms and responses, delivery records; order confirmations, shipping, and refund emails are sent as usual.
• Pro: Includes all Free features plus form receipts, team notifications for form submissions, campaign emails, and the ability to use your own custom domain; includes monthly sending limits.
• Business: Includes higher monthly sending limits and Webhooks to send order and form data to your own systems.

Transactional emails are sent on all plans and do not count against your limits. For details on plan limits and purchasing extra capacity, see Sending Domains, Email Appearance, and Sending Limits.

How is this different from other sections?

To keep each article focused, this section does not repeat information on:

• Order, shipping, and refund operations: Please read Order and Shipping Status and Refund Processing. This section only covers the emails triggered by these events.
• Backend notifications for you and your team: To manage who receives new order alerts, please read Notifications and Inbox.
• Form security: To block bots and spam, please read Forms and Checkout Security.
• Sending data to external systems: Please read Webhooks.

Here, the focus is on "who the customer is and what to send them," not order processing itself.

Recommended reading order

If you are using the "Customers" section for the first time, we recommend reading in this order:

1. Customer Lists and Subscriptions - Understand where contacts come from and who receives campaign emails.
2. Online Forms - Read when you are ready to collect inquiries or registrations.
3. Automated Notifications - Learn what emails buyers and form respondents receive automatically.
4. Sending Domains, Email Appearance, and Sending Limits - Set up your sending domain before sending form receipts or campaigns.
5. Campaigns - Send your first newsletter once your list and domain are ready.
6. Delivery Records - Read when a customer reports not receiving an email.

Quick tips before you start

• Transactional emails like order confirmations, shipping, and refunds are sent automatically and do not require a sending domain.
• Form receipts and campaign emails count toward your sending limits and require a verified sending domain.
• Campaign emails are only sent to subscribers. Do not import purchased or scraped lists; see Customer Lists and Subscriptions and International Campaign Email Rules.
• Each website has its own list; you cannot see contacts from other websites, and vice versa.
