Cookie Consent Banner
Overview
Cookies are small pieces of data that websites temporarily store in a visitor's browser. They can remember basic settings and, with consent, help analyze returning visits.
A cookie consent banner allows visitors, upon their first visit to a public website, to choose whether to accept all cookies or only essential cookies required for basic website functionality. This informs visitors how the website handles data and enables you to use third-party tracking more responsibly.
The Cookie Consent Banner is a Kanorio Pro and Business feature.
When to Enable
It is recommended to enable the banner in the following situations:
- You use Google Tag Manager, GA4, or Meta Pixel.
- You want to track new and returning visitors.
- Your visitors come from different countries or regions.
- You want to clearly inform visitors how the website uses analytics data.
Even without third-party tracking, enabling the banner allows visitors to clearly understand their data choices.
Steps to Enable
- Go to “Martech”.
- Open the “Floating Elements” settings panel.
- Find the “Cookie Consent” item and enable it.
- Save settings.
- Open your published website in an incognito window to confirm what visitors see; if not yet published, please go to “Publish” first.
Cookie policy text is managed under “Pages → Legal Pages”. If you need to explain your data processing methods, please also check that your terms and privacy-related content align with your actual practices.
What Happens After Visitor Choice
Accept All
Once a visitor agrees, the website can use essential and analytics-related cookies as configured. This helps distinguish between new and returning visitors and allows configured third-party tracking to operate according to their consent model.
Only Accept Essential Cookies
Visitors can still browse the public website normally. Kanorio will not store analytics identifiers used to identify returning visitors, so the classification of new and returning visitors may be incomplete.
This is Not an Automatic Guarantee of Legal Compliance
The cookie banner is a tool for informing and obtaining consent; it does not automatically make any website compliant with all legal requirements across all countries, regions, industries, or data processing scenarios. You still need to ensure that your privacy policy, third-party tool settings, and actual data usage are appropriate for your website.
Frequently Asked Questions
The banner is a lightweight component of the public website. Visitors can still browse the website normally; whether different third-party tools affect loading speed depends on the number and configuration of tools you enable.
Yes, you can, but the system will warn you about related privacy risks. If you use third-party tracking, it is recommended to keep the banner enabled and ensure your disclosure and consent process is clear.
No. Kanorio can still provide anonymized overall traffic trends, but it cannot reliably classify that visitor as new or returning.
