Register Your Website with Google
Overview
Google Search Console, often shortened to GSC, is a free tool provided by Google. It allows website owners to verify if Google has indexed their site, see what search terms people use to find them, and receive notifications about indexing issues.
While not registering doesn't mean Google will absolutely not find your website, connecting it gives you a clearer understanding of your site's indexing status and allows Kanorio to assist with verification and Sitemap submission.
Before You Start
- Your website must be published and remain online.
- Use the Google account you want to manage GSC with to log in.
- Confirm that your public URL can be accessed correctly.
Recommended Method: One-Click Google Search Console Connection
- Open "Marketing Technology".
- Open the settings panel in "SEO & Search Engines".
- In the Google Search Console section of "SEO & Search Engines", click "Connect Google Search Console".
- Follow the prompts on Google's screen to authorize Kanorio to manage necessary Search Console permissions.
- Return to Kanorio and wait for the system to verify and submit the Sitemap.
After authorization, Kanorio will automatically handle available verification steps, add your site as a resource, and submit the Sitemap. When you make content changes and publish them in the future, the system will also resubmit the Sitemap at appropriate times.
If your website's domain changes, or if Google requires re-verification, the Marketing Technology page will display a prompt. Follow the prompt to reconnect or re-verify; do not assume the old connection will remain valid indefinitely.
Alternative Method: Manual HTML Tag Verification
If one-click connection isn't possible, you can obtain an HTML verification tag from Google Search Console and paste it into the advanced manual verification section within the "SEO & Search Engines" settings.
Only paste the verification content provided by Google; do not paste the entire webpage code or other third-party scripts. After saving, publish your website from "Publish", then return to Google Search Console to complete the verification.
What is a Sitemap?
A Sitemap is a list of pages for search engines to read. Kanorio automatically generates Sitemaps for your published website, typically found at:
yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
Replace yourdomain.com with your actual public website URL. Kanorio will assist with submission during the one-click connection. If you're using manual verification, you can add it yourself in the Sitemap section of GSC.
Submitting a Sitemap is an invitation for Google to re-crawl your site, not a request for it to rank all your pages on the first page of search results immediately.
What You Can See After Setup
In Google Search Console, you can typically view:
- Which pages on your site have been indexed.
- What users searched for to see or click on your site.
- If your site has any indexable issues that need attention.
- The status of your Sitemap submissions and processing.
GSC data is collected and processed by Google and usually has a delay. View it as a trend rather than expecting real-time results of your complete search performance for the day.
