Refer-a-Friend Program
The Refer-a-Friend program allows you to share Kanorio with friends who need to build a website. If your friend's account has no prior paid subscription history, they can receive referral discounts when they upgrade to a Kanorio paid plan for the first time and choose Pay Monthly: Pro gets the first month free, and Business gets 20% off the first month. As long as the referral relationship is correctly established when your friend makes their first payment, you'll earn a fixed 20% in referral points on successful invoices with actual payment amounts for the next 12 months.
These points are not cash but can be used to offset your own Kanorio subscription fees. This page explains how the Refer-a-Friend program works, rules for annual payments, and terms of service.
Refer-a-Friend Program in One Minute
| Recipient | What They Get |
|---|---|
| Referred Friend | Upon first upgrade to a paid plan with Pay Monthly: Choose Pro for a free first month; choose Business for 20% off the first month (20% discount). |
| Referrer | For the next 12 months starting from the friend's first successful payment, receive a fixed 20% in referral points on successful invoices with actual payment amounts that qualify. |
Please note: When a friend chooses Pro and gets the first month free, that invoice amount is zero, and no referral commission is generated. Commissions are only generated from invoices with actual payments starting from the second month. When a friend chooses Business and gets 20% off the first month, there is still an actual payment amount, and referral commissions will be generated. The standard referral commission for referrers is a fixed 20%.
How to Participate
- Go to the "Referrals" page in your dashboard and enable the referral feature.
- The system will automatically create your first referral code.
- Copy your referral link, referral code, or QR Code and share it with your friends.
- When your friend upgrades to a paid plan for the first time, they should use the link with your referral code. If they choose Pay Monthly, they can also manually enter your referral code at checkout.
- After your friend completes checkout, the system will establish the referral attribution. Subsequent qualified referrals with actual payment amounts will enter a holding period before being settled as your points.
Referral Code Management
Each user can create up to 10 referral codes. Each code can be configured independently:
- Custom Code: 4 to 24 characters, alphanumeric, underscores, and hyphens only.
- Display Name: The name shown on the referral page.
- Avatar: The image displayed on the referral page.
- QR Code: Automatically generated for easy offline sharing.
This is ideal for users who need to differentiate between various promotion channels (e.g., social media, business cards, events).
What Referrers Get: A Fixed 20% for Up to 12 Months
When a friend completes checkout for any paid plan using your referral code (including the $0 invoice for the Pro first month free), the system records this referral relationship. Starting from the date of that first successful payment, for the next 12 months, every successful invoice with an actual payment amount that qualifies will earn you a fixed 20% in referral points.
Referral points are calculated based on the net amount of each successful payment invoice. For example, if a friend has a successful payment with a net amount of US$20 within the 12-month window, your referral points will be US$4. If the friend continues their subscription within the window, each subsequent qualified payment will be calculated again.
- Referral Window: A maximum of 12 consecutive months from the date of the friend's first successful payment.
- Referral Rate: A standard fixed 20%.
- Zero-Dollar Invoices Don't Earn Commission: Zero-dollar invoices generated by the Pro first month free offer will establish attribution but do not earn referral commissions. The Business first month 20% off still has a payment amount and will earn commissions.
- Calculated Per Invoice: Monthly payments are calculated with each successful charge. Annual payment invoices are calculated based on the invoice amount and are not prorated by service period.
- Plan Changes Don't Interrupt: Upgrading or downgrading within the 12-month window does not interrupt the existing referral attribution. Subsequent invoices will be calculated based on the actual payment amount after the change.
- After the Window Ends: New payments made after the 12th month will no longer generate referral points.
Referral Scenario Examples
The following amounts are for illustrative purposes only and do not represent actual plan prices in any region or currency. Actual points will be based on the net settlement amount of each successful payment invoice, refunds, consumer dispute outcomes, and conversion rules at the time of settlement.
Scenario A: Continuous Monthly Payments After Pro First Month Free
Friend chooses Pro and gets the first month free (invoice amount $0, no referral points generated). For months 2 through 12, the net settlement amount for each monthly payment is US$20:
- Month 1: $0, $0 referral points.
- Months 2-12: US$20 × 20% = US$4 per month, for 11 invoices with amounts.
- Total: US$44 in referral points.
Scenario B: Switching from Monthly to Annual Payment Mid-Term
Friend chooses Pro and gets the first month free ($0). For months 2-6, they pay US$20 monthly. In month 7, they switch to an annual plan with a net settlement amount of US$180 for the annual invoice:
- Month 1: $0.
- Months 2-6 (Monthly Payments): US$20 × 5 × 20% = US$20.
- Month 7 (Annual Invoice within 12-month window): US$180 × 20% = US$36.
- Total: US$56 in referral points.
Annual payments themselves do not receive referral discounts (Pro first month free or Business first month 20% off). However, as long as the referral relationship is established, this annual invoice will still generate 20% in referral points for the referrer.
Scenario C: Downgrading Mid-Term
Friend initially chooses a higher-tier plan with a referral discount. For months 2-4, they use the higher-tier monthly plan with a net settlement amount of US$50 per month. In month 5, they downgrade to a lower-tier plan with a net settlement amount of US$20 per month, continuing until month 12:
- Month 1: Calculated based on the actual payment amount (if Pro first month free, $0; if Business first month 20% off, based on the discounted amount).
- Months 2-4: US$50 × 3 × 20% = US$30.
- Months 5-12: US$20 × 8 × 20% = US$32.
- Total: Depends on whether there was a payment in Month 1 (remaining months total US$62).
Upgrading or downgrading does not reset the referral calculation; the system directly calculates based on the amount of each actual payment invoice.
Scenario D: Subscription Exceeds 12 Months
Following Scenario A, the friend accumulates approximately US$44 in referral points within the 12-month window. In the 13th month, even if another US$20 payment is successfully processed, no new referral points will be generated.
This does not affect points already settled, nor does it remove the friend from your count of active referrals; only new payments made after the 12-month window expires will no longer count towards referral points.
What Friends Get: First Month Discount Based on Plan
Referred friends with no prior paid subscription history can receive referral discounts when they upgrade to a Kanorio paid plan for the first time and choose Pay Monthly, using a valid referral code at checkout:
| Plan | Referral Discount |
|---|---|
| Pro | First month free (100% discount) |
| Business | 20% off the first month (20% discount) |
- Referral discounts apply only to the first upgrade to a paid plan when choosing Pay Monthly. If the account has ever had a paid subscription for any website, this offer is no longer valid, even if canceled later, switched to another plan, or a new website is created.
- A payment method is still required at checkout for normal renewal charges from the second month onwards (this applies even to the Pro first month free offer).
Why Don't Annual Payments Get Referral Discounts, Yet Still Generate Referrals?
Annual payment prices already include the system's long-term subscription discount. To avoid stacking the annual payment discount with referral benefits on the same subscription, referral discounts (Pro first month free, Business first month 20% off) are only applied to the initial upgrade to a paid plan when choosing Pay Monthly.
This does not affect the referrer's commissions:
- If a friend enters through your referral link and chooses an annual payment, the referral code will still be associated with the link, and the system will establish referral attribution.
- The manual referral code input field on the annual payment checkout screen only appears when Pay Monthly is selected. For annual payments, please use the referral link.
- As long as the payment date of the annual invoice falls within 12 months of the friend's first successful referral payment, and the invoice has an actual payment amount, the referrer will still receive a 20% commission on that annual invoice.
In other words, the only difference with annual payments is that "the friend will no longer receive a referral discount"; the referral relationship and the referrer's eligibility for commissions are not affected.
How Referral Codes Are Transmitted
Friends can use your referral code in the following ways:
- Manual Entry: Friends manually enter the referral code on the checkout screen when upgrading to a paid plan for the first time and selecting Pay Monthly.
- Referral Link: After visiting the login page via your referral link, the system will remember the referral code in the browser (for about 30 days) and automatically pre-fill it at checkout. This is also the recommended method for establishing referral attribution when friends choose annual payments.
- Brand Banner Link: You can enable this in your editor settings, allowing Kanorio brand marketing banners on your website to include your referral code.
If a friend clicks on multiple different referral links sequentially, the system will prioritize the last referral link clicked. If a referral code is manually entered at checkout, the manually entered code will take precedence.
When Are Commissions Settled? How Are Refunds Handled?
Each qualified referral commission undergoes a 60-day holding period. This period allows time for processing refunds, cancellations, or consumer disputes. After the holding period ends, the system converts the net settlement amount into referral points.
-
If a refund or consumer dispute occurs within the holding period, the settlement amount will be reduced by the actual refund or dispute amount.
-
If a refund or dispute is processed after settlement, previously issued referral points may be partially deducted.
-
This means "seeing a friend has paid" does not guarantee immediate availability of points; please refer to the settled points displayed in your dashboard.
How Can Referral Points Be Used? Can They Be Cashed Out?
Referral points can be used to offset payments for your own Kanorio paid subscriptions, including new subscriptions and renewals. The system will automatically apply available points during the next eligible payment process; points do not expire.
Referral points are not cash and cannot be generally cashed out, transferred, or used to pay for other accounts' subscriptions. If you are a consistent content creator or community manager and wish to apply for cash withdrawal, you are welcome to submit a request through the customer service channel in your dashboard after logging in. Such applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and submitting an application does not guarantee approval or the availability of cash withdrawal.
Refer-a-Friend Program Rules
Before participating in this program, please confirm the following rules:
- Eligibility: You must have a valid Kanorio account and have enabled the referral feature in your dashboard. The referral relationship must be established with a valid referral code or link when the friend makes their first paid subscription.
- No Self-Referrals or Fraud: You may not refer yourself, use accounts or payment methods you control, or obtain rewards through fraudulent registration, fake transactions, misleading advertising, or similar means.
- First Subscription Limit: Referral discounts for friends (Pro first month free, Business first month 20% off) apply only to the first upgrade to a paid plan when choosing Pay Monthly. Accounts that have previously subscribed to any paid plan are no longer eligible for this offer. Annual payments do not offer referral discounts but can still generate referral commissions if the referral relationship is established.
- Refunds and Disputes: Refunds, chargebacks, or consumer disputes will affect unsettled or settled referral points. Kanorio may adjust or deduct points based on the actual impact amount.
- Point Usage: Referral points can only be used to offset your own Kanorio subscription fees. Except for case-by-case applications mentioned above, they cannot be cashed out, transferred, or exchanged for cash.
- Program Modifications: Kanorio may adjust, suspend, or terminate this program and its reward rules due to service needs, risk control, or applicable legal requirements. Any significant changes will be announced on this page or in the dashboard as reasonably practicable.
- Violation Handling: If there is reasonable evidence that an account has violated the rules on this page, terms of service, or content guidelines, Kanorio may cancel referral eligibility, refuse to issue unsettled rewards, and adjust improperly obtained points.
Frequently Asked Questions
Referrers receive a standard fixed commission of 20%. After a friend makes their first payment for any paid plan using your referral code, every successful invoice with an actual payment amount that qualifies within the next 12 months will earn commission. Zero-dollar invoices for the Pro first month free do not generate commission. For Business first month 20% off, there is still a payment amount, and commission will be calculated based on the discounted amount.
No. The invoice amount for the Pro first month free is $0, so no referral commission is generated. Starting from the second month, only invoices with actual payments from the friend will count towards the 20% commission (and must still be within the 12-month window). If the friend chooses Business and gets 20% off the first month, there is a payment, and commission will be generated.
Each referral commission first goes through a 60-day holding period before being issued as points based on the net settlement amount. Refunds, cancellations, or consumer disputes may affect the final credited amount.
Referral discounts apply to the first upgrade to a paid plan when choosing Pay Monthly, varying by plan: Pro gets the first month free, Business gets 20% off the first month. Annual payments already receive the system's long-term discount and do not stack referral discounts. If a friend uses your referral link, annual payments will still establish attribution and generate commissions for the referrer.
No. Within the 12-month window from the first successful referral payment, friends can upgrade, downgrade, or switch to annual payments. Referrers will continue to receive 20% commission based on the actual settlement amount of each qualified, invoiced payment.
No. New payments made after the 12-month window from the first successful referral payment will no longer generate referral points. However, settled points and the count of active referrals will not be affected.
No. The referral program is limited to referring eligible new users. Self-referrals, fake accounts, or fraudulent transactions are not eligible.
Generally, no. Referral points can only be used to offset your own subscription fees. If you are a stable community or content creator, you can submit a case-by-case application through the dashboard's customer service, but approval is not guaranteed.
Each user can create up to 10 referral codes, which are useful for tracking different social media channels, events, or collaboration channels separately.
The last referral link clicked will take precedence. If a referral code is manually entered at checkout, the manually entered code will be used. Referral codes remembered by referral links are valid for approximately 30 days.
Yes. If a refund or consumer dispute occurs within the holding period, the points for that transaction will be reduced. If it occurs after settlement, the system may also deduct previously issued points proportionally.
