Kanorio

Upgrade, Downgrade, and Switch Billing Cycles

About 6 min

After subscribing to Kanorio Pro or Kanorio Business, you can change your plan or billing cycle from the Billing section in your dashboard. Before confirming, the system will clearly show whether the change will take effect immediately, require a prorated charge, or apply at the end of your current cycle.

If you are currently on the free plan, please read How to Subscribe to a Paid Plan. If you wish to completely stop your next renewal, please read Cancel Subscription, Refunds, and Re-subscribe.

When to Change Your Plan

Here are common scenarios:

  • Need more custom domains, higher AI (Artificial Intelligence) feature limits, or want a 0% Kanorio platform transaction fee: Consider upgrading to Kanorio Business.
  • No longer need the extra benefits of Business: Consider downgrading to Kanorio Pro.
  • Want to reduce your upfront payment: Consider switching from annual to monthly billing.
  • Plan to use Kanorio long-term and want to take advantage of annual billing discounts: Consider switching from monthly to annual billing.

If you are still comparing features rather than making an immediate change, please read Choose the Right Plan first.

How to Change Your Plan or Billing Cycle

  1. In your dashboard, switch to the website you want to change.
  2. Go to Billing.
  3. Click "Change Plan".
  4. Select your new plan and choose to pay monthly or annually.
  5. Review the preview information provided by the system.
  6. Confirm the change.

The preview screen will tell you when your new plan will take effect and if any payment is required. Please review it carefully before confirming, as upgrades and downgrades have different effective dates.

Upgrades: Usually Take Effect Immediately

When the prorated monthly cost of the new option is higher than your current subscription, the system considers it an upgrade. Examples include switching from Kanorio Pro to Kanorio Business, or from annual to monthly billing within the same plan.

Upgrades typically activate new benefits immediately and charge a prorated difference. Prorated means the system calculates the remaining time in your current cycle and charges only the difference in cost between the old and new plans for that remaining period, rather than requiring you to pay for a full new cycle.

The actual prorated amount will be displayed before confirmation. If your payment information needs updating, please follow the steps in Billing, Invoices, and Payment Methods.

Downgrades: Take Effect at the End of the Current Cycle

When the prorated monthly cost of the new option is lower than your current subscription, the system considers it a downgrade. Examples include switching from Kanorio Business to Kanorio Pro, or from monthly to annual billing within the same plan.

Downgrades do not immediately remove the benefits you've paid for. You will continue to use your current plan until the end of the current term, which is the last day of your current billing cycle. Your plan will automatically switch to the new one at the start of the next cycle. No refunds will be issued for the current period's payment.

Before the new plan takes effect, you can cancel a scheduled downgrade from the Billing section to keep your current plan.

Check These Before Downgrading

After downgrading, certain content won't be deleted but may temporarily become unavailable to visitors. It's recommended to check the following:

  • Does the number of custom domains exceed the limit for the new plan?
  • Do your published pages exceed the scope of the free plan's single homepage?
  • Do visible modules exceed the free plan's limit of 10?
  • Do you still need third-party tracking, cookie consent banners, or marketing elements?
  • Are there any blog posts you need to keep publicly accessible?

For detailed feature limitations, please read Choose the Right Plan. If you plan to revert to the free version, read Cancel Subscription, Refunds, and Re-subscribe to understand how your data will be handled.

Switching Between Monthly and Annual Billing

When changing your billing cycle within the same plan, the system determines the effective date based on the prorated monthly cost of the new and old options:

  • Switching from Monthly to Annual: Annual plans usually offer long-term payment discounts, resulting in a lower prorated monthly cost. Therefore, this change typically takes effect at the end of the current cycle.
  • Switching from Annual to Monthly: Monthly billing usually has a higher prorated monthly cost. Therefore, this change typically takes effect immediately, and any prorated charges will be displayed before confirmation.

If you change both your plan and billing cycle simultaneously, the outcome might differ. The actual effective date and charges will always be based on the preview shown in the "Billing" section.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Upgrading unlocks more features on your existing website; it does not create a new site or delete your original content.

No. Your content and settings will remain in your dashboard, but certain paid features will be temporarily inactive to the public. For example, the free plan will only display the homepage and up to 10 visible modules; you can regain access by re-subscribing.

If you no longer wish to pay, please cancel your subscription. You will revert to the free plan at the end of your current cycle, rather than having your current benefits stopped immediately.

First, ensure you have switched to the correct website and have the necessary billing management permissions. If your subscription is in a grace period due to payment failure or has a cancellation scheduled, check its current status in Billing and manage payments if necessary.

Yes. You can cancel a scheduled downgrade before it takes effect. Even if it has already taken effect, you can re-subscribe or upgrade later.
