Fees and Exchange Rates
When you sell products, you'll see two different types of fees. Many people confuse them, so let's clarify them in simple terms first to avoid confusion when looking at the rate table.
Kanorio does not handle your transaction funds. Buyer payments are collected by payment processors and deposited directly into your account. The transaction fee is a separate service fee charged by Kanorio to the seller, unrelated to the flow of transaction funds.
Understand the Two Fees at Once
| Fee | Simple Explanation | Who Charges |
|---|---|---|
| Payment Processing Fee | Like the "card processing fee" charged by credit card machine companies – money passes through their system to reach you | Payment processors like Stripe, PAYUNi, LINE Pay, etc. |
| Kanorio Transaction Fee | Like a platform commission – Kanorio provides infrastructure such as the website, store, payment gateway integration, and order management | Kanorio |
These two fees are separate and both affect how much you ultimately receive. They are not the same fee.
Kanorio Transaction Fee
Calculated based on your website subscription plan. This is a fee for using Kanorio's product, checkout, order, and content delivery features, not the subscription fee itself.
| Website Plan | Transaction Fee Rate |
|---|---|
| Free | 9% |
| Kanorio Pro | 3% |
| Kanorio Business | 0% |
The actual rate is saved when an order is created; even if you change your plan later, historical orders will retain the rate from when they were completed.
How is it Charged?
| Payment Method | How Transaction Fee is Charged |
|---|---|
| Stripe Connect | Processed by Stripe along with each transaction; no separate card linking or monthly billing required |
| PAYUNi, LINE Pay | Kanorio deducts it from your linked credit card via monthly billing at the end of the billing cycle |
No transaction fees are generated without orders. If your plan's rate is 0% (e.g., Business), no 0-value monthly billing item will be created.
Fees for Each Payment Gateway
Below are the processing fees charged by payment service providers. You can also view them on the respective payment gateway cards in your backend under "Store → Payments".
Stripe Connect
Rates vary depending on the country or region of your Stripe account, for example:
- Common standard rate in the US: approx. 2.9% + US$0.30 per transaction (domestic cards)
- Common standard rate in Hong Kong: approx. 3.4% + HK$2.35 per transaction (domestic cards)
- International cards typically incur an additional 1.5%; currency conversion may add another 1%
Stripe has no setup fees or monthly fees. Please refer to your Stripe account and Stripe's official pricing for the actual rates.

When applying for PAYUNi through Kanorio, the following payment methods will be enabled (only supports New Taiwan Dollar):
| Payment Method | Rate |

| Apple Pay / Google Pay / Samsung Pay | Same as Domestic Credit Card |

12/18/24/30-installment plans require separate application with PAYUNi.
LINE Pay
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Per Transaction Fee Rate | 2.2% (excluding tax) |
| Who Charges | Charged directly by LINE Pay; Kanorio does not handle it |
| Currency | Only supports New Taiwan Dollar |
Fee Calculation Example
Assume a product sells for NT$1,000, and you are on Kanorio Pro (transaction fee 3% = NT$30):
| Scenario | Payment Processing Fee (approx.) | Transaction Fee | Approximate Net Received |
|---|---|---|---|
| PAYUNi Domestic Credit Card | NT$22 (2.2%) | NT$30 | NT$948 |
| LINE Pay | NT$22 (2.2% excl. tax) | NT$30 | NT$948 |
The table above is a simplified estimate for understanding and does not include taxes, installment surcharges, currency conversion, or refunds. For Stripe, rates vary by country, so please refer to your account for actual charges.
Exchange Rates and Cross-Currency Transactions
If the buyer's payment currency, product price currency, and your payment account's settlement currency differ, the payment processor may convert currencies and charge related fees. Kanorio will set up checkout based on product settings and payment capabilities but cannot guarantee exemption from payment processor currency conversion fees.
We recommend that you:
- Confirm which currencies your payment processor supports.
- Establish clear multi-currency pricing for your primary markets.
- Regularly review your payment processor's payout and currency conversion statements.
Will Fees Be Refunded on Refunds?
Refund rules vary by payment gateway, and the refund policy for payment processing fees and Kanorio transaction fees may differ. Please refer to your order details and individual payment gateway articles for specifics:
- Refund Processing
- Receiving Payments with LINE Pay (within 60 days, full/partial refunds)
