Accept Payments with LINE Pay

About 7 min

LINE Pay is a mobile payment tool: buyers confirm payments on their mobile LINE app, eliminating the need to enter credit card numbers on a webpage. It differs from "integrated payment gateway services" like Stripe or PAYUNi – LINE Pay only processes its own payment methods and doesn't simultaneously offer multiple tools like ATM or convenience store codes.

At Kanorio, you can directly enable LINE Pay payments. Buyers will first see the product and amount on Kanorio's checkout confirmation page before proceeding to LINE Pay for authorization.

Who is it for?

  • Sellers primarily serving Taiwanese buyers who wish to offer LINE Pay as a payment option.
  • Sellers who have applied for and been approved for a LINE Pay merchant account, and possess the Channel ID and Channel Secret (the integration credentials from the LINE Pay Merchant Backend).
  • Sellers who do not yet have a LINE Pay merchant account and wish to apply with Kanorio's assistance.

LINE Pay currently only supports New Taiwan Dollar (TWD).

Two Ways to Enable

Navigate to your backend's "Store → Payments", select the LINE Pay card, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 1: Already Have Credentials, Enable Directly

If you have applied for and obtained your Channel ID and Channel Secret from LINE Pay:

  1. On the LINE Pay card, select "Already applied with LINE Pay? Enable directly."
  2. Enter your Channel ID and Channel Secret.
  3. Kanorio will verify the credentials; once verified, you can start accepting payments.

You can obtain your Channel ID and Channel Secret from the LINE Pay Merchant Backend: log in, click "Developer Tools" on the left sidebar → "Manage Connection Keys," click "Query," and verify with an email code to view them. These are sensitive credentials; do not share them with customer support via chat or email.

Method 2: Apply with Kanorio's Assistance

If you do not yet have a LINE Pay merchant account:

  1. On the LINE Pay card, select "Apply."
  2. Fill in your basic store information and upload the required documents (e.g., bank passbook copy, identification).
  3. Kanorio will forward your information to a LINE Pay representative for application assistance.
  4. LINE Pay will handle the review and activation; your backend will show "Under Review."
  5. Once approved and you have received your credentials, return to the backend and enter your Channel ID and Channel Secret to complete the activation.

LINE Pay payments are divided into "online" and "offline" types, requiring separate applications. The application through Kanorio is for "online" payments.

How Buyers Pay

  1. Buyers select a product plan on your public website and log in.
  2. They proceed to Kanorio's checkout confirmation page to review the product and amount.
  3. They are directed to LINE Pay to authorize the payment (usually completed within the LINE app).
  4. Upon successful payment, buyers return to "My Purchases" to access their content.

Fees

LINE Pay's payment gateway fee is 2.2% (excluding tax) per transaction, collected directly by LINE Pay. Kanorio does not handle this fee.

Additionally, Kanorio charges a transaction fee based on your subscription plan (this is a separate fee from the payment gateway fee). For a complete explanation, please read: Fees and Exchange Rates.

Refunds

  • Refunds can be initiated through the Kanorio backend within 60 days of payment.
  • Both full refunds and partial refunds are supported.
  • For full refunds, LINE Pay typically does not charge an additional fee; for partial refunds, the fee is calculated based on the remaining amount. Details are subject to the LINE Pay Merchant Terms and FAQ.
  • Kanorio's transaction fee refund policy is consistent with other payment gateways; see Refund Processing for details.

Accepting LINE Pay via Kanorio vs. via PAYUNi

Both methods may allow buyers to use LINE Pay, but the application process, payment pages, and account settings differ:

MethodWho Provides the Checkout PageWhat You Need to Apply For
Enable LINE Pay on KanorioKanorio Checkout Confirmation Page → LINE Pay AuthorizationLINE Pay Merchant Account (can apply with Kanorio's assistance)
Use LINE Pay within PAYUNiPAYUNi Payment PagePAYUNi Account, then enable LINE Pay as a payment tool within PAYUNi

If you are already using PAYUNi and have enabled LINE Pay within it, you typically do not need to enable it separately. If you only want to accept LINE Pay and not use an integrated payment gateway, enabling it directly on Kanorio is suitable. For more details, refer to: Unified Payments with PAYUNi.
