Checkout Process: How Buyers Purchase
Understanding the screens buyers go through can help you better design your sales pages, answer customer questions, and more quickly identify the cause of payment failures.
Kanorio does not currently have a shopping cart. Buyers select a plan and quantity from a single product sales module at a time, then proceed directly to the checkout process for that item.
The Buyer's Purchase Journey
- Review Product Information: Buyers see the product description, plans, and pricing on your public website.
- Select a Plan: Buyers choose a fixed-price plan or enter a custom amount if you've enabled the sponsorship feature.
- Log in to Kanorio: Buyers need to log in or create a Kanorio account so the system can securely place purchased content into "My Purchases."
- Proceed to Payment: Depending on the payment method you're using, the system will direct the buyer to the corresponding payment flow (Stripe/PAYUNi's payment page, or Kanorio's checkout confirmation page before redirecting to LINE Pay).
- Complete Payment: The payment gateway confirms the payment result.
- Access Content: After successful payment, buyers return to "My Purchases" to view their purchased digital content.
Why Do Buyers Need to Log In?
Kanorio links purchased content to a buyer's account rather than sending out download links that can be freely forwarded. This allows buyers to log in and view their purchase history later, and enables sellers to revoke access for specific orders from order management if necessary.
If buyers are prompted to log in after selecting a plan, the system will attempt to return them to the original purchase flow upon successful login. To prevent tampering with payment amounts, custom amounts may require reconfirmation from the buyer.
Payment Experience with Different Gateways
Stripe Connect
Buyers will leave your public page and go to a Stripe-managed Checkout page to enter or confirm payment details. After successful payment, Stripe will redirect the buyer back to Kanorio. For a complete guide to applying for and setting up Stripe Connect, please read: Accept Payments with Stripe Connect.
PAYUNi Unified Payment Gateway
Buyers will be directed to PAYUNi's payment page. Available payment methods depend on the tools your seller account has enabled and been approved for, such as credit cards, ATM transfers, or convenience store payments. After selection, buyers complete the payment according to the on-screen instructions. For a complete guide to applying for and setting up PAYUNi, please read: Accept Payments with PAYUNi.
LINE Pay
Buyers will first see Kanorio's checkout confirmation page (to review the item and amount) before proceeding to LINE Pay for authorization, usually completed within the LINE App. After successful payment, they will return to "My Purchases." For a complete guide to applying for and setting up, please read: Accept Payments with LINE Pay.
Free Plans
Plans with a fixed price of 0 do not require a payment gateway account. After the buyer logs in, the system will directly create a free purchase record and grant access to the content.
When Checkout Fails, What Should You Check First?
| What the Buyer Sees | Possible Cause | Recommended Action |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot click or shows "Currently unavailable" | Product is archived, plan is unpublished, or seller has not completed payment setup | Check product status, plan status, and payment gateway settings |
| Payment page won't load | Payment method not enabled, product currency not supported by the gateway, or temporary connection issue | Confirm gateway status and product currency, then try again |
| Haven't received content after ATM/convenience store payment | Buyer has not completed payment, or the gateway has not yet returned the payment result | Ask the buyer to confirm payment status and wait, then check "My Purchases" |
| Not returned to the original flow after logging in | Browser blocking cookies, link expired, or reopened on a different device | Return to the product page, re-select the plan, and checkout again |
