Fees and Exchange Rates

About 9 min

When selling products, you may encounter two types of fees: Kanorio's platform fee and payment processing fees charged by your payment service provider. Understanding these two distinct fees will help you avoid confusion between "product price," "net amount received," and "monthly billing."

Kanorio does not handle your transaction funds directly. Buyer payments are collected by the payment gateway and deposited directly into your account. Kanorio acts as neither a payment collector nor a remitter. The platform fee is a service charge Kanorio collects separately from the seller, unrelated to the flow of transaction funds.

Tier 1: Kanorio Platform Fee

Kanorio's platform fee is calculated based on your website plan. This is a transaction fee for using Kanorio's product, checkout, order, and content delivery features, not a monthly subscription fee.

Website PlanPlatform Fee Rate
Free Plan9%
Kanorio Pro3%
Kanorio Business0%

The actual rate is saved when an order is created. Even if you change your plan later, historical orders will retain the rate applicable at the time of their creation.

Tier 2: Payment Processing Fee

Payment gateways like Stripe and PAYUNi charge processing fees based on the payment method. Rates may vary for credit cards, installments, ATM transfers, convenience store payments, and cross-currency transactions. Payment gateway providers may also adjust their terms.

  • Stripe Connect: Please refer to Stripe's official pricing for rates applicable to your account's location.
  • PAYUNi: Visit your backend at "Store → Payout Accounts" to view your PAYUNi fee details. Kanorio has compiled the rates for each payment tool within your account information.

How are Platform Fees Collected?

Collection times differ based on the payment method.

Stripe Connect: Real-time Processing Per Transaction

Stripe Connect processes the platform fee along with each transaction. You do not need to set up a separate credit card for monthly platform fee billing.

PAYUNi: Kanorio Monthly Settlement

PAYUNi handles transaction payouts according to its own disbursement rules. Kanorio's platform fees are collected from sellers on a monthly settlement basis. If your platform fee rate is greater than 0%, you will need to set up a credit card for platform service fee deductions.

If your website is on Kanorio Business, or if your effective platform fee rate is 0%, Kanorio will not generate a monthly billing item for a $0 transaction fee.

Simple Calculation Example

Assuming a product price of NT$1,000, let's calculate only the Kanorio platform fee:

PlanPlatform FeeProduct Price After Platform Fee Deduction
Free PlanNT$90NT$910
Kanorio ProNT$30NT$970
Kanorio BusinessNT$0NT$1,000

The table above does not include Stripe or PAYUNi's payment processing fees. The actual net amount received will also be affected by the payment method, gateway fees, potential currency exchange, and refunds.

How to Check PAYUNi Rates?

Go to your backend at "Store → Payout Accounts" to view your PAYUNi rates. Kanorio displays the current rate settings for each payment tool in your account information. The calculation methods vary for different payment tools; some are a percentage of the transaction amount (e.g., credit cards), while others are a fixed amount per transaction (e.g., convenience store payments). Do not apply a single credit card rate to ATM or convenience store payments.

Rates are determined by business terms and approval results. If you have questions about a specific transaction, please compare the order details with the rate settings in your backend account information. For a complete explanation of PAYUNi's fees, refer to the relevant links in Using PAYUNi for Unified Payment Collection.

Exchange Rates and Cross-Currency Transactions

If the buyer's payment currency, product price currency, and your payout account's settlement currency differ, the payment gateway may perform currency exchange and charge related fees. Kanorio facilitates checkout based on product settings and gateway capabilities but does not guarantee the waiver of currency exchange fees by the payment gateway.

To make pricing easier to understand, we recommend:

  1. Confirming which currencies your payment service supports.
  2. Establishing clear multi-currency pricing for your primary markets.
  3. Regularly reviewing your payment gateway's payout and exchange rate statements.
