Payment Methods Overview: Choose Your Gateway
A payment gateway is a service that helps you accept payments online. When a buyer clicks the purchase button, the payment gateway securely processes their payment details, confirms the payment status, and disburses funds to you according to its rules.
You can think of it like a physical store's card reader: instead of giving their card number directly to the cashier, customers complete the transaction through a trusted payment service. Kanorio does not store a buyer's full card number or bank payment details.
Kanorio Does Not Handle Your Transaction Funds
Kanorio does not handle your product transaction funds at all, nor does it act as a payment intermediary. Whether you use Stripe Connect, PAYUNi, or another payment gateway, the buyer's payment is collected by the payment gateway provider and directly deposited into your account with that service, according to their disbursement rules. Simply put, money flows directly from the buyer to the payment gateway provider, and then from the payment gateway provider to you – Kanorio never handles any transaction funds in between.
Kanorio's platform fee is a separate service charge and is unrelated to your transaction fund flow. For details, please read: Fees and Exchange Rates.
Available Payment Methods
Kanorio currently sets up one payment account per website. Please choose based on your business location, settlement currency, and the payment methods your buyers commonly use.
| Payment Method | Who it's for | Buyer's Payment Experience | Important Restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stripe Connect | Sellers located in Stripe-supported countries or regions, primarily accepting international credit cards | Redirected to Stripe's payment page | Actual supported countries are subject to Stripe's official list and activation screen |
| PAYUNi Unified Payment | Taiwanese sellers who want to offer options like credit card, ATM, or convenience store payments | Redirected to PAYUNi's payment page | Only supports New Taiwan Dollar; application is currently based on Kanorio's public availability status |
| Free Plan | Sellers offering free downloads, tutorials, or resources | Content is accessed directly after login | Only for plans with a fixed price of 0; cannot be used for custom amount entry |
Two Payment Methods Explained in Simple Terms
Integrated Payment Gateways
Stripe Connect and PAYUNi are both integrated payment gateways. After you apply for a payment account, buyers will go to the payment page provided by the payment gateway provider and enter their card number, obtain ATM payment information, or choose other payment tools based on the available options.
This is the most suitable method for most sellers at this stage, as payment data is handled by the payment gateway provider, eliminating the need for you to create your own payment pages.
Direct Mobile Wallet Connection
Mobile wallets are services that handle only specific payment methods, such as LINE Pay. Kanorio is planning to allow mobile wallets to coexist with integrated payment gateways and provide a checkout confirmation page displayed by Kanorio; this capability is not yet available, so please do not consider it a currently available payment method.

Which One Should I Choose?
| Your Situation | Recommended Reading |
|---|---|
| You are in a Stripe-supported country or region and want to accept international credit cards | Stripe Connect (Recommended as the first choice for most sellers) |
| You are in Taiwan and your buyers prefer ATM, convenience store payments, or common Taiwanese credit cards | PAYUNi Unified Payment |
| You offer free resources and do not need to charge buyers | Free Plan explanation in Create and Manage Products |
| You only want to accept LINE Pay | Please check PAYUNi's payment tool application status first; direct LINE Pay connection is not yet available |
Reserved for Future Multi-Gateway Architecture
Currently, one website can use only one payment account at a time. In the future, Kanorio plans to allow one integrated payment gateway to coexist with multiple direct mobile wallet accounts; sellers will be able to choose the checkout method their buyers use, rather than having the same payment tool appear on multiple pages.
This is a future plan and does not mean you can currently bind or switch between multiple payment gateways simultaneously. When the feature is officially launched, operational steps will be announced on this page and in the individual articles for each payment gateway.
Frequently Asked Questions
A payment gateway is a service that securely processes online payments and disbursements. It verifies payments, returns success or failure results, and disburses funds to the seller according to its rules.
Credit cards, ATMs, and mobile payments require regulated payment services to handle transactions, identity verification, and risk management. Using a payment gateway service prevents you from directly handling sensitive buyer payment data.
Not currently. Each website can only be configured with one payment account at a time. The future multi-gateway capability is still under planning.
Yes, it is normal. Both Stripe Connect and PAYUNi use their own managed payment pages, which allows the payment service provider to securely handle the buyer's payment details.
