Setting Page Search Titles and Descriptions

About 12 min

Overview

Each page can have its own SEO settings. These settings determine the title, summary, and preview image most commonly used in Google search results and when shared on social media. Writing them clearly helps search engines and visitors understand if the page is relevant before they click.

This is not a site-wide copy. The homepage, service pages, portfolio, and contact page should each describe different topics.

Open the SEO Panel for the Current Page

  1. Open the "Pages" section in the editor.
  2. Click "SEO" next to the page you want to configure.
  3. After completing the settings, click Save, and re-publish your site from the "Publish" section.

SEO settings only affect the current page. If you have multiple pages, please check them one by one and avoid copying the same title and description to every page.

Search Title

The search title is the most prominent text in Google results and often the title in browser tabs.

A good search title should include:

  • What the page is about.
  • Natural language that users might search for.
  • Your brand name or a clear differentiator.

It's recommended to keep it around 50 to 60 characters to prevent important content from being cut off in search results.

For example:

  • Not clear enough: Welcome to Our Website
  • Clearer: Commercial Photography Services in New York | Brand Imaging & Product Shoots - Morning Light Studio

Search Description

The search description is the summary below the title. While it's not guaranteed to display exactly as written every time, it's still an important clue for search engines and visitors about the page's content.

It's recommended to use one to two complete sentences to explain "what you offer, who it's for, and what the next step is," ideally around 150 to 160 characters.

For example:

  • Not clear enough: Best photography services, quality guaranteed.
  • Clearer: Morning Light Studio offers New York brand imaging, product, and space photography services. View our portfolio and book a consultation.

Keywords

The keywords field allows you to organize the most relevant terms for this page, such as service types, locations, products, or brand names. Please choose terms that are actually mentioned in the page content, and avoid stuffing irrelevant popular keywords.

Keywords help you organize your content direction, but simply filling them out won't directly improve your ranking.

Social Share Preview

When someone shares a URL on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, X, or others that support Open Graph, the platform typically reads the following information:

  • Social Share Title: Can differ from the search title and be more suited for a social media tone.
  • Social Share Description: A brief explanation of what will be seen after sharing.
  • Share Image: A landscape image that clearly identifies the brand and topic is recommended.

If you don't upload a share image, enabling "Auto-generate Share Image" will allow Kanorio to create a 1200 × 630 preview image using the page title and brand colors. This is suitable for establishing a consistent default image; however, for important events, products, or portfolio pages, using a specially designed image is still recommended.

Canonical URL, Indexing, and X Cards

Canonical URL

The canonical URL setting tells search engines "the official URL for this page." Usually, you can leave this blank, and Kanorio will automatically generate it based on the current page's URL.

Only manually fill in the full URL if the same content genuinely exists at multiple URLs and you know which one should be considered the official version. Incorrectly filling this out for other pages can cause search engines to ignore the current page.

Indexing Control

  • index / follow is the default setting, allowing search engines to index the page and follow links on it.
  • noindex means not to include this page in search results, suitable for pages that are unfinished, duplicate, or for specific purposes only.
  • nofollow means not to pass link signals from this page, and it's usually not necessary to enable it randomly.

Do not set your homepage to noindex unless you are certain your entire site should not appear in search results. Setting the homepage to noindex affects the overall search directive for your published site.

X (Twitter) Card

You can choose between a small image card or a large image card. If you have a clear landscape share image, a large image card is usually more suitable. If you don't have a suitable image, you can use a small image card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Search engines need time to re-crawl and index. Updates don't happen instantly. First, re-publish your site from the "Publish" section, then check the indexing status via Google Search Console.

Yes. Each page's SEO panel allows you to upload a share image and fill in the social title and description independently.

Social media platforms cache preview data. Please confirm your site has been published, then wait for the platform to re-fetch. Update times vary across different platforms.
